PLANNING
Our planning team provides leadership to the not for profit sector on all aspects of town planning permit procurement, including investigation of prospective land against planning policy, the preparation of planning permit applications, and advocacy before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The town planning process is complex, particularly for the not for profit sector seeking to establish a place of worship or education. EKIST understands the importance of development harmony and uses creative solutions in design to respond to planning policy without compromising quality and cost effective outcomes.

DESIGN
Our creative approach is a response to a theology of power. Research indicates that individuals within community can achieve transformation through engagement with creative space. When context facilitates creative opportunity, people contribute and change in the process. This thinking is unique to EKIST and serves as the nucleus of our design services. The sculptural quality of external forms, the play of solidity and transparency, and the materiality of limited palettes are all ordered by EKIST to form flexible spaces that can be contributed to by its users to empower transformation. Such contemporary approach has permanence, with its practical design being unique and beautiful.
PROCESS
With over 17 years experience in facilitating building procurement, EKIST has demonstrated excellence in project leadership from master planning through to contract administration. Our approach to delivery is collaborative; EKIST considers the impact of design on capital and recurrent costs by working with both the client user groups and the project design team in the planning and procurement process. Central to the ethos of this collaboration is education, involving a functional analysis of the operational, organisational, theological and physical requirements of the project. Our ability to coach the building committee towards the functional delivery of the project is supported by building information modelling (BIM). Ekist provides 3d modeling to improve coordination between the design team and construction contractors, offering better buildings at a lower cost. The ongoing benefit of our BIM process, provides building maintenance control, adding to the projects distinction.
AUDIT
EKIST provides a unique services in contract documentation auditing, managing risk to deliver real savings in building procurement. The reviewing of documents against standards in safety and design, material selection, detail design, environmental impact and cross discipline coordination is commonly overlooked in contract documentation. Our auditing service provides standards in quality assurance that deliver buildings of greater value with less expense. Real reduction of the risk of contract variation costs during the construction phase are achieved and the long life durability of the building is improved. This auditing service can be engaged at any stage of the documentation process, but should be an essential consideration for each project prior to tender.
